Outside the municipal cemetery of
Resiutta, on the right, you can see a funerary monument and some Austro-German tombs that were arranged in the days following the
defeat of Caporetto. Many of them bear the dates of 29th or 30th October 1917 indeed, when the Imperial army advanced towards the
Friulian plain also through the
Resia Valley, which stretches from the Upper Isonzo to the
Fella Valley.
The tombstones are placed near the perimeter wall and are not artistically relevant: small blocks of white stones mark the resting place of the soldiers, who are simply identified by their names, divisions and date of decease.
