Austro-German tombs in the municipal cemetery of Resiutta

Outside the municipal cemetery of Resiutta, on the right, you can see a funerary monument and some Austro-German tombs that were arranged in the days following the defeat of Caporetto. Many of them bear the dates of 29th or 30th October 1917 indeed, when the Imperial army advanced towards the Friulian plain also through the Resia Valley, which stretches from the Upper Isonzo to the Fella Valley.

The tombstones are placed near the perimeter wall and are not artistically relevant: small blocks of white stones mark the resting place of the soldiers, who are simply identified by their names, divisions and date of decease.
