‘The Skull C. World Palaeoanthropological Heritage’

Description

At the Winckelmann Museum, visitors will be able to view Skull C, which comes from the Krapina site, a World Heritage Site of paleoanthropological significance.
The Neanderthal site at Krapina is one of the most important sites in global palaeoanthropology. Discovered at the end of the 19th century on Hušnjakovo Hill, it was the subject of research between 1899 and 1905 under the guidance of the renowned scientist Dragutin Gorjanović-Kramberger. The finds, dating back some 130,000 years, are now housed at the Croatian Museum of Natural History in Zagreb, and the most iconic piece will be on display at the Winckelmann Museum.
Opening hours: Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays)
