Description
Following the success of its first theater tour and concerts at major summer festivals, the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Giacomo Loprieno, once again pays homage to the greatest composer of film scores in history: Maestro Ennio Morricone. In Discovering Morricone – Vol. 2, the ensemble offers a unique tribute to the music of the great Italian composer in a concert enriched with new, some lesser-known, yet remarkably beautiful pieces from the Maestro's vast repertoire.
The Discovering Morricone project is not just a concert, but a journey of words, inspiration, and solo performances that guide the viewer through the decades that shaped Italian and international cinema and music. This incredible journey, which began with melodies that have remained in the collective memory of generations—the evocative power of The Mission, The Legend of 1900, Once Upon a Time in the West, Cinema Paradiso, The Hateful Eight, Once Upon a Time in America, For a Few Dollars More, and Malena—has characterized the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra's work in recent seasons. It continues with other memorable works such as The Untouchables, La Califfa, and Canone Inverso, with a special focus on the great songs written for artists such as Dulce Pontes, Joan Baez, and Mina in a new symphonic version.Five hundred soundtracks, seventy million records sold worldwide, six nominations and two Oscar wins, three Grammys, four Golden Globes, and a Golden Lion make Ennio Morricone an all-time musical giant. Hence the idea of the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra, Italy's flagship, to pay homage to the Maestro. With over six hundred concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Belgium, the orchestra demonstrates great versatility and attention to every genre, with a repertoire ranging from the most famous opera arias to world-famous film scores.
This tribute will feature soloists, principals from leading Italian theaters and symphonic institutions, including Maestro Ferdinando Vietti on cello and Maestro Stefano Benedetti on trumpet. Special guests include soprano Anna Delfino, a favorite of European opera audiences, who will relive the emotion of Deborah's Theme from Once Upon a Time in America, and Cirque du Soleil violinist Attila Simon, who will perform the solo from Love Affair. Accompanying the audience, giving voice to the characters and settings, will be the talented actor, director, and theater professor Andrea Bartolomeo.
