Ski touring on Monte Coglians

Ascent and descent on skis from Monte Coglians, the King of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the highest mountain in the region with its 2780 m. of altitude.

The winter ascent of the Coglians is a classic ski touring trip, one of the most representative in the North East. From the summit there is a spectacular view, which reaches faraway places, from the Adriatic Sea to the Dolomites and the Austrian and Slovenian Alps.The ascent through the wide and deep valley is quite simple, the last stretch to reach the summit is very steep and can only be climbed and skied if it is in ideal conditions (with ice ax and crampons).

The Coglians offers a long and regular descent with a sunny exposure and often with beautiful transformed snow.
Always consult the avalanche bulletin before attempting the climb.
