An excursion recommended for walkers of average fitness that leads to the peak of Monte Rest from the pass of the same name in an easy manner. The first part of the route is along the dirt road leading to the Casera Rest, a building used as a bivouac, located at an altitude of 1500m in a large pasture on the edge of beech and mountain pine woods. From the casera, the trail follows an evident path (CAI 826), climbing obliquely up the upper meadows to the ridge at an altitude of 1610m. From there, leave the CAI path heading for the nearby Forca Separeit to follow the wide ridge above. The summit is not far away, marked by the regional civil protection infrastructure.

Passing a panoramic bench near an old watering place, with a final, steeper section, we reach the summit of the mountain at an altitude of 1780m.

The descent is along the same route as the ascent.

    Author’s recommendation

It is best to avoid the hike in the middle hours of summer days due to excessive heat. The Rest hut can be used as an emergency bivouac
