The route, cha starts from the village of Tramonti di Sopra, reach the Ciul Lake and the path that runs along it. The route goes up the course of the Meduna stream, with considerable development and modest gradients, in a wild environment where there are emerald pools, the remains of the ancient village of Frassaneit and the silence of the meduna channels.

From Tramonti di Sopra, follow the signs for Frassaneit, Lago del Ciul and Pozze Smeraldine; the main road gives way to a forest track that enters the Canale di Meduna until it stops at a square, from which the wide mule track starts, leading shortly to a steel bridge (Ponte Rusubet), from which one can admire the waterfall generated by the Rug (Rio) della Ira and the Pozze Smeraldine. Attention is caught by the huge semi-submerged boulders that, obstructing the normal course of the river, contribute to generating delightful ponds, partly formed in circular hollows by the same erosive action of the waters. We continue at altitude, skirting the sheer walls, and after about an hour and a half from the start we reach the first two houses of Frassaneit di Sotto, the only houses currently restored. The hamlet of Frassaneit is divided into the hamlets of Sotto and Sopra. A dozen families lived in its houses until after World War I, and many also spent the entire winter there. Continuing along the path on the mule track we first pass the small bridge over the Rug del Giavòns, from where, looking towards the mountains, it is possible to admire the Aquila del Frascola, an imposing rocky structure that resembles the shape of the great bird of prey. It leads to the Frassaneit Bivouac, created through the renovation of the former school building, and to the nucleus of ruined houses of Frassaneit di Sopra. The trail, smaller in size, reaches the dam and Lake Ciul. Now the trail, without crossing the dam, skirts the lake, crossing the Rio della Val Curta and reaching the wide inlet of the Canal Grande di Meduna, which is crossed by a footbridge. Beyond the footbridge, the trail makes it possible to reach the natural terracing of Selis, where the ruins of another abandoned hamlet, cyclically submerged by the lake, are visible.
