Walking with animals in Tramonti di Sotto

Just a few kilometres from Trieste lies Val Rosandra, in the municipality of San Dorligo della Valle-Dolina. This beautiful nature site is a common destination for hikers in these parts, but in summer this place is populated above all by people who come here to bathe in the fresh waters of the Rosandra torrent. For here, in the middle of the Karst vegetation flows the only surface torrent of the Triestine Carso.
Getting to Val Rosandra is easy enough: you drive to San Dorligo della Valle and the continue on to Bagnoli. At this point you have to leave the car and continue on foot. If you have no car, you can also get there by bus from the centre of Trieste.
After walking for about ten minutes along the road leading to the mountain hut (the lowest in the Alps!), we soon enter the karst vegetation. On one side there are the remains of a Roman aqueduct, and on the other, we begin to glimpse the waters of the stream.
Arriving at the first pool, we stop for a dip to refresh ourselves.
This is the ideal place for a bathe in the middle of nature, away from the chaos of the coastal beaches. After the dip, we continue along the stream where the vegetation becomes thicker, to take a pleasant walk.
