Water is an element that relaxes me, that isolates me from the outside world and which “tires” me in a positive way. I’ve always liked to swim and dive underwater to try to see what’s beneath; I’ve never gone to the sea with the notion of getting a tan, but just to copy fish! That’s why I decided to become a “scuba”!
The nearest place for me to dive and see the wonders of our sea is Sistiana in the province of Trieste, where there is a small but well-equipped diving centre. The seabed is not very deep but you can still have some relaxing and fun dives in contact with the underwater flora and fauna. Visibility is generally good and even the water temperature is pleasant as it is located in a well sheltered cove.
Imagine for a moment that you are surrounded only by the blue of the sea, by the bubbles coming out from the regulators and listening only to your breathing... Imagine me now with torch and camera in hand, intent on exploring every corner of the rocks to immortalise a lobster or film a Mediterranean fanworm retreating rapidly into its tube.
I feel like a curious and enthusiastic child when I’m underwater because it's always a new and different emotion to what you have experienced before.
