Most of this stage – which runs from Log pod Mangartom to Bovec – lies within Slovenia’s only national park, the Triglav National Park, offering hikers sweeping, scenic mountain views, beautiful hydrological features (rivers, streams, gorges, waterfalls), and rich wildlife. Along the way, one can see fortifications and trenches that are now part of outdoor museums, providing space for personal reflection on the First World War—distant in time, yet vividly present thanks to the traces still present on this territory.
Author’s recommendation
Notable sights include the Kluže Fortress near Fort Hermann, whose current appearance dates back to 1882 when it was intended to monitor the Bovec area. During the Isonzo Front, Austro-Hungarian reserve troops were stationed here.
Also worth visiting is the Čelo Outdoor Museum, offering a stunning panorama and accessible fortified Austro-Hungarian artillery positions.

Tips and suggestions
If you choose to visit the Čelo Outdoor Museum, ascend towards Mount Svinjak. After about 30 minutes, you'll reach the museum. Then return to Kal-Koritnica and continue towards Golobar. Instead of crossing the footbridge over the Soča River, follow the right bank until the bridge over the Koritnica River at Vodenca, and from there head towards Bovec.
