Summer aperitifs in Trieste

Here are some tips for a summer aperitif in Trieste, after a day by the sea, shopping or sightseeing in the city.
In recent years, the night life has mainly focused on the Via Torino area, thanks to the opening of many bars/restaurants that can satisfy all tastes and that, after a pre-dinner drink, offer pizzas, hamburgers, vegetarian dishes, the typical cuisine of Trieste and other specialities.

More recently, another area in the city centre has also been transformed, with the opening of bars and restaurants, some in locations that were previously shops. Piazza Barbacan, next to the Arco di Riccardo (Richard’s Arch), has seen the birth or modernisation of spaces very close to each other, thus creating an attractive place to meet for a good craft beer, a glass of wine or a cocktail.

For those who want to sip a drink right by the sea, there are plenty of alternatives, especially in the Rive area, at the two piers, located before and after the Salone degli Incanti. There is even a former petrol station that has been converted into a bar.

Then don't forget the area around the Ponterosso canal where you can enjoy a sunset from a floating raft and enter Via Trento, where some new wine bars and beer gardens have recently opened.
For those who prefer to move away from the city centre, the Barcola promenade and pinewood are home to several kiosks, for a more informal drink, perhaps even still wearing your swimsuit, or a refreshing dip in the evenings on hot days.
