Hike with a fairly challenging elevation gain, but provides cool shelter on summer days, between the Natisone River and the shade of the forest.
Starting from the Natisone riverbed, one climbs quite steeply to the isolated village of Montefosca, a small town that now has a handful of inhabitants, in which one can breathe in the atmosphere of life in the past. Traditions are still alive in Montefosca, however; in fact, the characteristic carnival (Pust) with the masks known as "blumari" is worth a visit: the young males of the village, dressed in white and with cowbells tied to their belts, run around the village, covering the route as many times as there are blumari. It then climbs again to the church of St. Andrew, from which the descent then begins, back over the Natisone to Stupizza.
