Walking with animals in Tramonti di Sotto

It sometimes happens, in Carnia, to accidently find yourself amidst a fairytale. You’re suddenly thrown into the kind of setting a famous artist would paint, among pastel-hued pages with scenery so beautiful, lush and bountiful as to seem unreal. And yet it’s true. At this time of year, in Cesclans di Cavazzo Carnico, a tidal wave washes down from the woods to flood the surroundings with colour. They look like waterfalls, jeux d’eau, when seen from a distance. However, a shower of petals envelops you if you get near.
Crocuses, primulas and snowdrops announce the arrival of spring. An idea for breaking with the usual day-to-day routine? Enter the floral fray, perhaps for an old-fashioned picnic. That’s what I do every year when the first days of warm weather encourage you out in the open air.
It’s a return to childhood as you chase the words of flowers from petal to petal, from wood to meadow, a treasure hunt whose real prize is enjoying the experience of our land, which can still arouse these emotions. Try it for yourselves!
It’s easy to catch the “colour wave”; from the centre of Cesclans, just head towards the meadows and woods lapping against the village to the west. Happy emotion hunting!
