On the slopes of the Carnic Alps, the
Lake Valley is home to the largest body of water in all of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The lake is fed by underground water springs that reach up to two metres in size and by an artificial conduit. The
Cavazzo Lake (Tre Comuni Lake), bathes the wooded slopes of Mounts San Simeone, Festa, and Naruvint with its turquoise waters, creating a natural environment where many features of its plant and animal life stand out.
Its unique geographical position near the main Alpine ridge grants constant surface ventilation, which benefits all the water sports that can be practised here. The lake's nautical club acts as a reference point and meeting place for sailing enthusiasts, a perfect venue for those who enjoy gliding over the surface of the waters driven by the wind.
Cavazzo Lake also provides a series of
nature trails and cycle paths to enjoy
deep contact with nature, experiencing
uncommon landscapes, glimpsing coots or mallards nesting in the reeds along the shores, or admiring kingfishers intent on capturing small fish
A perfect location also for families with children who will find extensive picnic areas, playgrounds, and the possibility of renting rowing boats or pedal boats to experience the lake from a different and unique vantage point!
The
Lake Ecomuseum stretches across the territory of the three municipalities bordering the lake, with the aim of preserving, promoting and revitalising the cultural identity of the local community.
