Alpine Guides-Ski touring instructors can enjoy full autonomy and independence in all disciplines and on all grounds. This in the 16 countries of the world that have joined the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations: Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, England, Italy, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, United States, Sweden, Switzerland.
Aspiring Alpine Guides
They were anciently called "carriers" as they did nothing but carrying, literally and on their back, the luggage or the equipment of the Alpine Guide's customer. Today things have changed, the Aspiring Alpine Guide remains a trainee, an apprentice of the job, but enjoys remarkable organizational and management autonomy. The current training paths allow the Aspiring Guides to learn the basics and the fundamental techniques for guaranteeing maximum safety to their customers. After a compulsory two-year apprenticeship, the Aspiring Guide can access the training courses for Alpine Guide-Ski touring instructor.
The Alpine Guide/Ski touring instructor is nationally and internationally recognized as the only competent professional figure able to guarantee a correct frequenting of the mountain environment.
The Alpine Guide's task is to
accompany, teach and let people know the mountains in their various aspects.
The Regional Board is the organization of self-governance and self-discipline of Alpine Guides and of Aspiring Alpine Guides.
It is an entity established by the State Law no. 6 of 2nd January 1989 and the Regional Law no. 44 of 20th November 1995.
The role of
mid-mountain guide (
AMM) is regulated by Regional Law 21/2016, art. 76; A mid-mountain guide is someone who professionally, even if not exclusively or continuously, accompanies people on excursions in mountainous terrain, excluding rocky areas, glaciers, snow-covered terrain, and all routes that require the use of mountaineering techniques and equipment to progress, and explains the characteristics of the mountain environment to those they accompany. This profession has a strong educational, emotional, and cultural component. It is perfect for those who want to get to know the mountain territory with a respectful and curious eye, without the need to climb to the top or tackle technical passages.
Mountain guides are registered in the regional list kept by the
FVG Alpine Guides Association.
