BioMa Biodiversitario Marino

A dive into the Adriatic’s biodiversity

Far from the most classical and static form of museum, the Biodiversitario Marino is an environmental interpretation centre that welcomes visitors offering them an easy and accessible "dive" to all the various environments of the Miramare marine protected area, from the surface of the sea to its depths, and from macro-organisms to micro-organisms both animal and vegetable.

Reconstructions of the submerged reef, sections of sandy and muddy sediment with their inhabitants, dioramas of sea grasslands, ocean sunfish, bottlenose dolphins and other life-size pelagic animals, immersive videos and 3D representations, floating jellyfish, colourful nudibranchs, acoustic showers for listening to the sounds of the sea, a tunnel of the sea at night with the spectacular bioluminescence phenomenon, a special aquarium touch tank with benthic organisms: everything is designed so that visitors of all ages can learn more about marine biodiversity. Going up the stairs leading to the first floor, a harrowing plastic vortex introduces the issue of human impact on the marine environment, which will be addressed in the spaces on the upper floor.
Biodiversity Marine welcomes a new children's pathway with illustrated fairy tale and lots of themed games.
