Manzano

Manzano is of ancient origins and its name comes from the family of Manzano that ruled the area during the Middle Age.

The origin of the castle is not proved by documents: only in 1212 a noble man called Canciano was mentioned as Lord of Manzano.

In 1135 Manzano became part of the Church of Aquileia: since then the castle was destroyed many times because the Lords of Manzano did not accept the Patriarchate's rule; in 1431 there was the last rebellion against the Patriarchate Lodovico di Tech who ordered the complete destruction of the castle.

Later Manzano and its territories were ruled by the Republic of Venice and by Austria and in 1866 became part of the Reign of Italy.
