Curiosity
Malborghetto is situated in a beautiful location in Val Canale: at the foot of the mountain massif of the Julian Alps. During the Middle Ages it was called Bamberghetto - Bonborghetto. Due to the attacks of the Venetians in the valley and the ongoing struggles of the indigenous population with the Habsburgs, and probably also due to the unfavorable economic situation, the name was changed to Malborghetto.
