Skiing between Italy and Slovenia
A borderless ski holiday in the cross-border ski area of Sella Nevea – Bovec
In the season 2009/2010 the first cross-border ski area was opened in Friuli Venezia Giulia, connecting the Italian ski resort of Sella Nevea, in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia's Eastern Alps, to the ski area of Bovec in Slovenia.
Winter sports enthusiasts have the chance to enjoy 30 kilometres of ski runs on both sides of Mount Canin and to have fun in thrilling borderless descents.
The new services provided by the new connection
The new connection allows to benefit from new services and ski lifts and to discover new tracks and breathtaking slopes: thanks to a new ski run and to a new and fast cableway with two 100-people cabins, it is possible to leave from the Gilberti Station (1845 metres) and, through the Prevala Valley, reach the saddleback Sella Golovec (2133 metres), above the saddleback Sella Prevala. Thanks to the connection between Sella Nevea and the ski area of Bovec in Slovenia, it is possible to enjoy all the sceneries provided by Mount Canin along a thrilling succession of ski runs.
Discover the advantages of a single ski pass
The connection of the two ski areas has given life to a single ski pass, which can be bought both on the Italian and on the Slovenian side: for an even better-value winter holiday, FVG Card (the discovery card from Agenzia TurismoFVG - Friuli Venezia Giulia's Tourist Board) holders will be entitled to benefit from the special price for groups for the multi-day ski pass.
The Sella Nevea - Bovec connection is just one part of the Playing Together programme, in which the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Slovenia and Carinthia join in a tourism project of cross-border collaboration with the aim of promoting on the world market a unique territory and its events, products and tourist services.
