Knife edge emotions on the ice rinks in Friuli Venezia Giulia
Winter in Friuli Venezia Giulia is an exciting time for ice skating lovers.
For experts as well as those venturing into this activity for the first time, Carnia, Piancavallo and Tarvisiano offer numerous, modern and up to date structures where they can put their pirouettes to the test or enjoy some fun with friends on ice.
One of the most famous in Friuli Venezia Giulia is the Ice rink at Pontebba, a very modern, multi-purpose built unit, and home to important sporting events and shows as well as being the training rink for the famous "Le Aquile" hockey team.
Open both in summer and winter, it offers numerous services: as well as skate and helmet hire, there is also a gym, the "Palagym" that guests can use and, on booking, saunas and five-aside football pitches, volley and tennis courts.
In Carnia there is the ice rink at Forni di Sopra. The latter is worth mentioning for its magnificent lit rink, open in the evening, in Davost where you can enjoyably skate after a day on the snow.
The "Palapredieri" Ice Rink at Piancavallo, is also open in the evening and offers not only the hire of skates but also organises short ice skating courses or private lessons.
At the convergence between the rivers Cellina and Settimana, in a unique natural setting, you will find the Claut Ice Rink. Built in 2003 for the University Olympics to host the curling competitions, nowadays it is the only Italian Federal Centre for curling. It is also used as a stage for sporting events, and the structure also has a gym and skate hire service.
