Cross-country skiing through magical, muffled countryside. The great champions were “born” here

Friuli Venezia Giulia has a wide range of offers for cross-country skiing lovers.

Kilometres of slopes both for beginners and for experts allow you to enjoy an outdoor activity in fairytale surroundings, where great champions also train.

At Tarvisio and Pontebba there is an endless choice of cross-country skiing rings, that wind for more than 60km both through the heart of the area and through the delightful mountain countryside of the magical Val Saisera.

Whether it be the perfect slopes for beginners or for a simple warm up, by heading through the woods, alongside small streams and vast snow-covered meadows, you can reach the more technical slopes such as the Arena Paruzzi, a professional slope named after the champion Gabriella Paruzzi, originally from this area.

There are a number of world class and Olympic champions, such as Giorgio Di Centa, who come from the mountains of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is no coincidence that all these professional cross-country skiing athletes come from here, where there is a huge variation of slope levels and the vastness of the ski resorts immersed in breathtaking scenery, outlined by spruce trees, compensate the effort and commitment needed to practice this sport.

It is also worth remembering the Ravascletto-Zoncolan and Piancavallo resorts with an illuminated route and the Casa del Fondista (House of the Cross country Skier), departure point for numerous routes, where you can get all the information needed to discover the area and dine after a day on the snow.

Visit the magical valleys of the Carnia: 4 cross-country skiing centres will leave ski lovers with the memory of an unforgettable holiday focused on sport and well-being.

The cross-country skiing centre at Forni di Sopra provides two rings and a 2km slope used as a school for teaching the first skiing lessons with experts.

In Paluzza is the Ai Laghetti cross-country skiing centre: the perfect place for skiing immersed in the silence of pollution free nature.

Forni Avoltri
is the international centre for Nordic skiing where you can practice the biathlon, Ski-Arc and watch important competitions.

At the foot of the Dolomites of the Val Pesarina you will find Prato Carnico, with slopes of differing levels of difficulty and height and with the cross-country skiing centre restaurant where you can enjoy typical local delicacies.

Sauris
, Ampezzo, Lauco, Verzegnis, Forni Sotto and Enemonzo are also equipped for cross-country skiing: perfect rings for the whole family offer soft, simple routes.
