Sauris' cuisine is based on few specialties, poor in ingredients but loved by gourmets all over the world especially thanks to the quality of the products used: the renowned ham, manufactured in the local factories according to the age-old preservation techniques, as well as cheese and beer.

Ham
This product's quality has been undisputed for over a century: Sauris' peculiar climate together with the clever smoking process make it possible for the companies to go well beyond the regional boundaries and to spread rapidly on the Italian and foreign markets. To satisfy the increasing demand, the productivity has remarkably increased in this new millennium, to the advantage of the marketing of all typical products: next to ham we shall not forget salted bacon raw ham, ossocollo, salami, bacon, lard, cotechino and sausages.

Cheese
The quality standards in the dairy farming have remained unchanged during the years although the number of alpine grazing areas has come down in comparison to the past.
The peculiar geological formation of the valley of Sauris has endowed the pasture grass with such a wealth that the local dairy products are among the tastiest on sale; cheese, fresh and smoked ricotta and butter can be bought during the summer in the 1500 metres high pasture lands.

Beer
A handcrafted, high-quality wholemeal beer which is neither pasteurized not filtered is produced in the area around Sauris.
The love towards this product, being so "different" in this area, makes beer even more natural and valuable, also thanks to the quality of the fresh and sparkling water gushing out of the springs: the purity of this water, which is rich in mineral salts, far from the smog and the air pollution of industrial cities, combines with the natural balance of its physical-chemical features, thus making it unnecessary to perform any additional treatment.
