Farmers’ market of San Daniele
Discover San Daniele and typical Friuli products
San Daniele is a unique occasion for tasting and buying typical Friuli products in the splendid settings of Friuli's "Little Siena".
Every third Saturday in the month, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm in the spaces of the loggia next to the Guarneriana library in the square of San Daniele there's the Farmers' market.
The slogan of the Farmers' market is fair prices for customers and producers. It is organised in collaboration between the San Daniele Agro-food Park and Slow Food and offers for sale all the typical and genuine products produced within a 40 km radius of San Daniele.
The Farmers' market gives space only to small local producers and their products, which must be 'good, clean and fair'. Organic goodness is the result of choosing raw materials produced in a clean and respected environment by searching for balanced global economies and solidarity.
You can taste and buy:
• gubane (typical cakes filled with nuts and fruit) and strucchi (small biscuits made using the gubana filling) from the valleys of the Natisone
• cheeses from the Arzino Valley
• cheeses from Enemonzo
• Bufala cheeses
• typical products in oil
• sausages, salami, cold cuts
• biological bread freshy baked
• organic honey
• pestât (a seasoning made from lard and herbs) - Slow Food products
• chestnuts and preserves
• goat's meat
• San Daniele ham
For the children the San Daniele Agro-food Park and the Guarneriana library of San Daniele have organised "The Kitchen Garden" a workshop for children that is run by the illustrator Sarolta Szulyovszky. The workshop is free and is held in the Guarneriana library, until the end of may, and all the children who take part receive a tasty gift from the Farmers' markets' producers. You can get to know the vegetables and plants better that are grown in our area and appreciate the beauty and value of diversity and variety in nature.
